Palestinian Health Minister Majid Abu Ramadan warned of the catastrophic consequences of the Israeli war on Gaza, affirming that the Palestinian Authority will internationally seek to hold Israel accountable for its crimes against the Palestinian people.
In a statement to the Chinese channel CGTN on Tuesday, Abu Ramadan detailed the Israeli military’s destruction of health facilities and infrastructure, and the targeting of medical staff, describing these actions as crimes against humanity. He noted that the provinces of Gaza are fragmented, making communication between them challenging, and highlighted severe damage to health-related infrastructure such as hospitals, health centers, and ambulances. He reported repeated arrests of medical staff from hospitals, which he classified as blatant breaches amounting to war crimes.
Abu Ramadan emphasized that the deteriorating conditions in the sector are leading to increased death rates among patients, children, and the elderly. He added that vaccination campaigns against polio in Gaza are facing significant challenges due to the ongoing Israeli bombings. He praised Chinese support, particularly in the health sector, and its continuous backing of Palestinian rights at international forums.
