The United States Central Command announced on Saturday that it had destroyed a drone and a vehicle belonging to the Houthis in their controlled areas in Yemen within the last 24 hours.
The U.S. Central Command stated in a press release that over the past 24 hours, the U.S. Central Forces succeeded in eliminating a drone and a support vehicle in a Houthi-controlled area in Yemen. It was revealed that these systems posed a clear and imminent threat to U.S. forces, coalition forces, and commercial ships in the region. The statement highlighted that these actions are taken to protect the freedom of navigation, ensuring international waters are safe and more secure for American ships, coalition forces, and commercial vessels.
The Houthis have previously threatened the United States, Israel, and the United Kingdom with surprises both on land and at sea, employing unprecedented new technologies. The leader of the “Ansar Allah” movement declared on Thursday that “operations will continue in support of Palestine and in an open and clear confrontation against America, Israel, and Britain.” The Houthis asserted that the Red Sea is now devoid of any U.S. military presence and claimed that Washington has suffered a severe defeat in its naval battle. Since last November, the “Ansar Allah” Houthi group has been conducting maritime attacks targeting ships associated with Israel and heading to its ports, in support of the Palestinian factions facing the Israeli military in the Gaza Strip.
