On Wednesday, the United Nations Security Council unanimously approved the renewal of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) mandate for another year.
The extension maintains the current mandate and presence of international forces tasked with stabilizing the region and supporting Lebanese security efforts.
Lebanon’s Foreign Ministry expressed “deep gratitude” to the United Nations Security Council for voting to extend the UNIFIL mandate. The ministry highlighted the significance of UNIFIL’s presence in southern Lebanon, particularly given the ongoing regional instability.
Reaffirming Lebanon’s commitment to supporting UNIFIL, the ministry emphasized its dedication to ongoing cooperation and coordination with the peacekeeping force.
