Air France Suspends Flights to Israeli & Lebanon

Air France announced on Sunday that it has suspended its flights to Tel Aviv and Beirut, with the suspension set to last at least until Monday.

This decision comes in response to the escalating violence in the region.

The move by the French airline follows a significant surge in hostilities after Lebanon’s Hezbollah, an Iran-aligned militant group, launched hundreds of rockets and drones toward Israel early Sunday.

This attack was reportedly in retaliation for the assassination of senior Hezbollah leader Fouad Shukr in Beirut, which was carried out by an Israeli strike on July 30.

In a related development, Royal Jordanian Airlines also suspended its flights to and from Beirut on Sunday, citing the “current situation.”

However, no specific timeframe for resuming operations was provided. According to officials quoted by Reuters, despite the ongoing conflict, Jordanian airspace remains unaffected.

The Israeli military confirmed that fighter jets targeted sites in Lebanon shortly before Hezbollah’s anticipated attack.

This latest flare-up in violence has heightened regional concerns, particularly regarding a broader response from Iran and its allies following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the political leader of Hamas, in Tehran on July 31.

As tensions continue to escalate, airlines and travelers are advised to monitor the situation closely for further updates.
