US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke with Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to discuss ongoing efforts to negotiate a ceasefire agreement aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people and securing the release of hostages.

Blinken emphasised that the bridging proposal presented by negotiators effectively addresses the remaining gaps and allows for swift implementation of the deal.

Both leaders affirmed the importance of ensuring no party in the region takes actions that could undermine the negotiations and welcomed the upcoming talks in Cairo.

Blinken expressed gratitude for Qatar’s crucial role in mediating these negotiations and promoting regional peace.

Additionally, Blinken and the Amir discussed continued efforts to end the war in Sudan, stressing the importance of allowing unhindered humanitarian access to Sudanese civilians.
