On Wednesday, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced that its fighter jets conducted overnight strikes on several Hezbollah weapons storage facilities in the Bekaa Valley.
The IDF reported secondary explosions following the airstrikes, indicating substantial quantities of weapons stored at the targeted sites.
The IDF stated that the raids focused on a “complex used by Hezbollah’s air defense system, which poses a threat to Israeli Air Force aircraft.”
The airstrikes hit areas including Aita al-Shaab, Ramya, and Talousa in southern Lebanon. Additionally, one Hezbollah operative was targeted in the Wadi Hamoul area in southern Lebanon.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported on Tuesday evening that five people had been killed in Israeli airstrikes targeting southern and eastern Lebanon. Hezbollah responded by launching “intense rocket fire” and drones at Israeli military positions.
According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, four civilians were killed and two others injured in two Israeli airstrikes on the town of al-Dhahira in southern Lebanon.
The ministry did not specify whether the casualties were civilians or fighters, though Hezbollah announced the death of four of its members on Tuesday.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for a series of attacks against Israeli forces and positions, including firing Katyusha rockets at several locations in northern Israel in retaliation for the Israeli strikes, particularly those on al-Dhahira.
In a statement, Hezbollah said, “In response to the Israeli aggression on the Bekaa region, Islamic Resistance fighters launched intense rocket fire at the Golan Brigade 210 command headquarters in Nafah Barracks and the artillery and armored brigade headquarters of Brigade 210 in Yarden Barracks.”
Later on Wednesday, the IDF reported that air raid sirens were triggered in the towns of Katzrin and Kidemat Tzvi in the Golan Heights. Channel 12 Israeli news reported a direct hit on a building in Katzrin following the interception of numerous rockets launched from Lebanon.
