Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi confirmed that Jordan will not allow anyone to violate its airspace.
In statements to CNN on Wednesday evening, Safadi said, “Our message to the Iranians and Israelis is clear: we will not be a battlefield for anyone, and we will not allow anyone to violate our airspace.”
He added, “Our primary responsibility to our people is to protect our country’s sovereignty and the safety of our citizens. Therefore, our position is that no one should use our airspace and no one should endanger our people with any projectile falling on any part of our land, causing harm to our citizens. This is the stance we have communicated to both the Iranians and the Israelis unequivocally. We will not be a battleground in a confrontation that will only lead to more destruction and harm, will not end the occupation, and will not resolve the conflict between Iran and Israel. It is just another round of mutual confrontations that we will not be caught in the middle of, and we will not allow our security and the safety of our people to be compromised.”
In response to a question, he noted that all Jordanians are angry about the ongoing massacre of the Palestinian people in Gaza and the measures that undermine and kill the prospects for peace in the West Bank. This is the prevailing sentiment in Jordan and the Arab and Islamic worlds, and I believe it is spreading throughout the entire world.
