Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Atty has affirmed that the stability, unity, and territorial integrity of Libya are inseparable from Egypt’s national security.

This statement was made during a meeting led by Abdel Atty with his department’s Libya management team, focusing on the developments in Libya and efforts to help Libyan brothers achieve sustainable stability.

The meeting aimed to preserve Libya’s unity and stability, in addition to discussing the bilateral relations between the two nations and the conditions of the Egyptian community in Libya.

During the session, Abdel Atty received a comprehensive briefing from officials responsible for Libyan affairs at the ministry, emphasising the special attention Libya warrants as a neighbouring state and the historic and special relationship it shares with Egypt.

Libyan House of Representatives Speaker, Counselor Aguila Saleh, has announced the opening of candidacy applications for the position of Prime Minister in the new Libyan government.

The official spokesperson for the House, Abdullah Blaiheg, released a statement to the press, including Sputnik News, detailing the application process set to begin on July 28 and end on August 11, 2024, at the House’s office in Benghazi.

Blaiheg reiterated that this move follows the constitutional declaration and the thirteenth constitutional amendment, along with the election laws passed by the House of Representatives.

It also aligns with agreements from the 6+6 committee outcomes.

He highlighted that this decision is based on the agreement between the leaders of the House of Representatives, the High Council of State, and the Presidential Council, made at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo on March 10, 2024.

The Cairo meeting in July, attended by members from both the House and the High Council of State, resolved to form a new unified government that will prepare for upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
