In the early hours of Friday morning, security sources reported that four Katyusha rockets were fired at the Ain Al-Asad Airbase in Iraq, which hosts US-led coalition forces. The attack took place late Thursday night.

According to the sources, two rockets landed inside the base, while the other two fell in its vicinity. It remains unclear whether there were any casualties or damage resulting from the attack.

This incident follows two days after a military summit in Washington, where Iraqi and American officials discussed the termination of the coalition’s operations in Iraq.

Alsumaria News, citing a security source, reported on Thursday evening that two rockets targeted the vicinity of Ain Al-Asad Airbase in Anbar province. The source stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the launch site, without providing further details.

On July 17, two Iraqi military sources confirmed that two drones targeted Ain Al-Asad Airbase, which houses US and international forces in western Iraq. The July 17 attack was the first on US forces in Iraq since early February 2024.
