The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have denied any involvement of their members in the war in Ukraine. In a statement released today, the SDF labeled reports circulating in some media outlets about the alleged participation of their members in the ongoing war in Ukraine as “fabricated.”

The SDF emphasized that these reports are baseless and do not reflect reality. The alleged movements are inconsistent with the national priorities of the Syrian Democratic Forces in their struggle within Syrian territory to protect the region and its people. The SDF affirmed that its forces are not concerned with other issues outside Syria.

Earlier, the Russian news agency Sputnik cited “special sources” saying that the United States had transported about 650 armed men of the SDF, its ally in eastern Syria, to Ukraine. The agency reported that these forces were transferred to Ukraine via the Kurdistan region of Iraq on private planes in batches over the past six months, before being pushed into combat fronts against Russian forces.

Sputnik added that the US forces in Syria had opened several training centers in the countryside of Deir Ezzor and Hasakah provinces to train those who joined these camps on various types of light and medium weapons, before moving them to the Ukrainian fronts.
