Qatar has affirmed that occupation and human rights are contradictory and cannot coexist, calling on the international community to take all necessary measures and pressure the Israeli government to cease its support, end its occupation of Palestinian territories, and halt its illegal racist settlement policies. Qatar also demanded an immediate and permanent cessation of aggression, genocide, and forced displacement perpetrated by Israel against Palestinians in Gaza, alongside the allowance of humanitarian aid and the lifting of the blockade.

Qatar emphasized the necessity of ensuring that the Palestinian people recover all their inalienable rights, particularly the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent and fully sovereign State of Palestine along the June 4, 1967 borders, and to hold accountable all those responsible for violations and crimes committed against them.

This statement was delivered by Dr. Hind Abdul Rahman Al Muftah, Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, as reported by the Qatar News Agency. The statement was made during the interactive dialogue with the International Independent Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem and Israel, as part of the 56th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.

Dr. Al Muftah highlighted that Israel’s use of policies involving killing, starvation, siege, and the complete destruction of infrastructure and civilian facilities, especially hospitals and schools, as well as the cutting off of water, electricity, fuel, and food supplies in its aggression against Gaza, clearly reflects Israel’s intent to continue collective punishment against Palestinians and to make Gaza uninhabitable.

She expressed Qatar’s condemnation of the continued lack of cooperation by the Israeli occupation authorities with the International Independent Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including access to the occupied Palestinian territories to enable the commission to perform its mandate. This stance aligns with the severity of the genocidal crimes and gross violations of international laws and agreements committed by Israel, the occupying power for over seven decades.
