A Saudi elder reveals his unusual and challenging condition, he hasn’t slept for an astonishing period of 40 consecutive years. “I’m not mentally ill, not mad, and not bewitched. I am just a person who doesn’t sleep like the rest of humanity,” he says, describing his persistent struggle with insomnia.
Saood bin Mohammed Al-Ghamdi, aged 70, disclosed his condition to MBC during a weekly program. Al-Ghamdi shared that he sought medical assistance for his unusual circumstance and spent years visiting hospitals to understand the root cause of his condition.
Al-Ghamdi recalled his medical journey, detailing how doctors prescribed him various treatments, but his condition remained unchanged. Despite medical intervention, he continued to suffer from restlessness and anxiety.
Physicians eventually diagnosed his condition as psychological depression.
Subsequently, Al-Ghamdi sought help from several religious figures to explore his situation from a different perspective, but this brought about no change. Despite his struggles, Al-Ghamdi maintains that he enjoys a good life and continues to engage in his daily activities.
