A massive fire broke out on Wednesday in the historic Manama Souq in Bahrain’s capital, raising concerns about safety and potential damage in the densely packed market area.

The Bahraini Ministry of Interior announced via their official social media account on “X” that the Civil Defense is actively working to extinguish the fire, which erupted in a multi-story building within the Manama Souq area. Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the blaze.

In their post, the Ministry of Interior stated, “Civil Defense is responding to a fire that broke out in a multi-story building in the Manama Souq area.”

The ministry also mentioned that all necessary measures are being taken at the scene to manage the situation effectively.

Videos circulating on social media show intense flames and thick smoke billowing near the commercial shops in the narrow alleys of the old Manama market, locally known as Souq Bab Al Bahrain.

These visuals have sparked widespread concern among locals and netizens.

As of now, Bahraini authorities have not provided additional details regarding the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage.

The incident has raised immediate concerns about the safety of the market’s vendors and visitors.

In a related incident earlier on Wednesday, a fire broke out in a residential building in Mangaf, southern Kuwait, resulting in 49 fatalities and injuring dozens.

This tragic event has heightened awareness and caution regarding fire safety in the region.
