Algerian authorities have reported that their civil services are currently engaged in a significant struggle to contain massive wildfires that erupted in four southeastern provinces, leading to substantial material damage and considerable destruction of agricultural lands.
The fires, which erupted swiftly on Wednesday evening, have primarily affected the oases in the provinces of Ouargla, El Menia, Timimoun, and M’Sila. These wildfires have decimated dozens of hectares of palm trees and resulted in the deaths of numerous animals. According to a statement released by the Civil Protection Services on Thursday, although several of the fires have been brought under control, the effort to fully extinguish them continues.
