According to Axios, the United States has suspended an arms shipment to Israel, as reported by Reuters today.
Quoting Israeli officials, the website stated that the administration of President Joe Biden halted an American-made ammunition shipment to Israel last week.
This marks the first time since the October 7th attack that the United States has stopped a weapons shipment destined for the Israeli military.
Israeli officials have expressed serious concerns about the incident, raising questions within the Israeli government about the reasons behind this American decision.
In February, the US administration requested assurances from Israel that US-made weapons are used by the Israel Defense Forces in Gaza in accordance with international law. Israel provided a letter of assurances in March.
As of now, neither the US Department of Defense nor the office of the Israeli Prime Minister has commented on the information released by Axios.
Recently, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made several statements indicating his intention to conduct a military operation in Rafah, Gaza, regardless of whether Israel and Hamas have reached a “truce,” hinting at tensions with the Biden administration, while the United States has expressed reservations about the potential military operation.
