A military spokesperson for the Houthi group announced on Thursday that their forces targeted an Israeli vessel in the Gulf of Aden. Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson, stated in a release that the group attacked the Israeli ship “MSC Darwin” with a series of missiles and drones.
Saree further detailed that the group launched several ballistic and cruise missiles at multiple Israeli targets in the area of Um al-Rashrash (known as Eilat) in southern Israel.
The statement reiterated the Houthi’s ongoing commitment to “block Israeli navigation in the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean,” and vowed to continue their military operations against Israeli targets.
For months, the Houthis have targeted vessels they claim are bound for Israel, including some military ships, as part of their operations in support of Palestinians in Gaza.
Periodically, American and British air forces conduct airstrikes against Houthi targets in Yemen as a response to the group’s military actions.
