Syria has received an invitation to participate in the upcoming COP28 climate summit, scheduled to be held at Expo City Dubai later this year.
Abdul Hakeem Al Nuaimi, charge d’affaires of the UAE Embassy in Damascus, personally delivered the invitation to Syrian President Bashar Al Assad on behalf of President Sheikh Mohamed.
The announcement was shared on Monday through the official Twitter page of the UAE Embassy in Damascus.
The COP28 climate summit, set to take place from November 30 to December 12, is expected to attract tens of thousands of attendees in Dubai. The event will gather approximately 70,000 participants, including heads of state, government officials, leaders from various global industries, representatives from the private sector, and climate experts.
Over the course of two weeks, intensive discussions will be held to address the pressing issues surrounding the climate crisis.
By extending the invitation to Syria, the organisers aim to foster inclusive dialogue and collaboration among nations, ensuring that diverse perspectives are represented in the pursuit of climate action.
Syria’s participation in the COP28 summit will contribute to the collective effort to combat climate change and seek sustainable solutions on a global scale.
