Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson announced on Thursday that Sweden has called for a meeting with the Israeli Foreign Ministry, several European Union member states, and other countries to “discuss the urgent need to improve mechanisms for delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza.”

Kristersson expressed on the “X” platform, “The lives and health of children in Gaza must be protected.”

The delivery of aid in the Palestinian territory has collapsed, with only a small fraction of the necessary food supplies entering the area and even less reaching the northern regions.

A spokesperson for the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, stated on Wednesday that she would travel to Cyprus later this week as the EU works on establishing a potential relief corridor through the Mediterranean island to support the people of Gaza.

The spokesperson added, “Our efforts are focused on ensuring our ability to provide assistance to the Palestinians.”
