In a decisive move, the US Military targeted and eliminated four Houthi drones and two anti-ship cruise missiles in Yemen and the Red Sea, the Central Command revealed on Friday. The action was taken in response to an identified imminent threat posed by the Houthi rebels to both merchant vessels and US Navy ships.

The strike, executed on Thursday and Friday, aimed at preventing the launch of drones and cruise missiles from areas controlled by the Houthi rebels in Yemen towards the Red Sea. Additionally, the military successfully intercepted three Houthi one-way attack drones near commercial ships in the Red Sea.

During the operation, conducted with precision, no damage was reported to any ships, according to the Central Command. Just a day before this strike, the US military had undertaken four “self-defense” strikes against the Houthis, resulting in the destruction of seven anti-ship cruise missiles and a mobile ballistic missile launcher in Yemen.

Houthi rebels in Yemen have been targeting ships in the Red Sea since November, with the aim of pressuring an end to Israel’s conflict with Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Notably, on Thursday, the rebels launched attacks on both Israel and a ship in the Gulf of Aden, leading to the vessel’s ignition. This incident underscored the rebels’ ability to carry out assaults despite facing US-led airstrikes against their forces.
