In a news conference held in Buenos Aires on Friday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed disappointment over Israel’s announcement of plans to construct 3,000 new housing units in settlements located in the occupied West Bank.

Blinken conveyed that the move contradicts the long-standing US policy, emphasizing that the establishment of new settlements is considered counterproductive to achieving a lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

The Israeli decision has prompted concern and disapproval from the United States, as Blinken underlined the significance of avoiding actions that could hinder the prospects of a durable resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The announcement comes at a critical juncture when efforts for peace in the region are being closely monitored.

As tensions persist in the Middle East, the US stance underscores the importance of adhering to established policies aimed at fostering an environment conducive to meaningful negotiations and sustainable peace between the conflicting parties.
