London, UK: In a striking statement, Russian Ambassador to Britain, Andrei Kelin, asserted that South Africa has legitimate legal grounds to sue Israel at the International Court of Justice over actions in Gaza. The comments were reported by the Russian news agency TASS on Tuesday.

Ambassador Kelin highlighted, “Israel’s objective in Gaza is the removal of the local population.” He emphasized that South Africa has valid reasons to bring this issue before the International Court of Justice.

Further elaborating on the Palestinian situation, the Ambassador remarked, “There is no capacity to contain Palestinians indefinitely. We need to grant them a state in line with the two-state solution, which is most crucial and what neither Israel nor the United States wishes to pursue.”

In addition, the Russian diplomat stated that comparing events in Gaza and Ukraine is not appropriate, noting, “We have never attempted to expel residents from cities as is happening in Gaza.” He strongly condemned the ongoing situation in Gaza and called for an immediate halt to the violence in the region.

Kelin’s statements underline Russia’s stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict and its advocacy for a two-state solution, contrasting with its approach to the situation in Ukraine.
