Careem, a prominent multi-service application in the region, has extended its Gaza relief initiative to include contributions from users in Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
This expansion follows a significant donation of over AED 2 million ($540,000) from Careem employees to aid those affected by the crisis in Gaza.
Users in these countries can now donate to the campaign using the Careem app, supporting various organizations like Tkiyet Um Ali in Jordan, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, and the Emirates Red Crescent. Additionally, the company is doubling the donations made by Careem Plus members.
Careem’s mission is centered around improving the lives of people in the region. The company’s employees and users have been actively involved in numerous social impact efforts.
These include emergency relief for refugees in Jordan and Lebanon, rebuilding homes in flood-hit areas in Pakistan, and supporting the education of children with disabilities in Saudi Arabia.
In 2021, the app introduced a feature allowing customers to directly donate to the United Nations World Food Program’s efforts in Gaza and the West Bank.
Over the past three years, Careem’s fundraising and donation activities have amassed over $4.2 million, which has been channeled into various development, humanitarian, and empowerment projects across the regions where Careem operates.
