Tunisia’s Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad Minister, Nabil Ammar, welcomed the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy, Abdullah Batelli, and the head of the UN Support Mission in Libya this Friday. According to a statement by the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Facebook, Batelli briefed on the latest developments in the Libyan political process and the UN mission’s efforts to align the views of various parties.
Batelli reaffirmed Tunisia’s active role since the beginning of the Libyan crisis, expressing his hope for further strengthening cooperation in the coming period to advance the political process. This cooperation aims to meet the aspirations of the Libyan people and the entire region for security, stability, and development.
From his side, the Tunisian minister reiterated Tunisia’s stance, advocating for a political settlement in Libya based on a Libyan-led solution. He emphasized Tunisia’s support for UN efforts to reconcile differing Libyan perspectives.
Ammar also expressed Tunisia’s readiness to enhance cooperation and coordination with the UN mission to overcome obstacles and reach agreements that facilitate organizing elections and establishing permanent and unified institutions.
