The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs announced on Friday that member states have contributed around $218 million in response to the urgent appeal for Gaza. This development was reported by the Jordanian News Agency.

The office stated that this amount represents only 18% of the required response, which totals $1.2 billion. Moreover, member states have pledged an extra $250 million.

Earlier this month, the UN and its partners launched an urgent call to implement a response plan designed to support 2.2 million people in the Gaza Strip and half a million in the occupied West Bank.

This plan aims to address critical needs in various sectors, including food, health, security, shelter, education, protection, and coordination.

The mobilization of these funds highlights the international community’s commitment to addressing the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza and the West Bank.

The contributions are earmarked to alleviate suffering and provide essential services to the affected populations, underlining the ongoing need for support in these areas.
