The Palestinian Authority’s Border and Crossing Authority, overseeing the Rafah crossing with Egypt, announced on Friday evening the import of 17,000 liters of fuel into the Gaza Strip. This fuel is intended to power the generators of a telecommunications company.

According to a statement carried by the French Press Agency (AFP), the fuel, specifically diesel, was transported through the Rafah land crossing for the benefit of the telecommunications company. Reuters reported that Palestinian telecom companies Paltel and Jawwal have partially resumed their services in the Gaza Strip following the limited fuel entry.

Paltel, a Palestinian telecommunications company, had announced on Thursday a “complete disruption in communication services… following the prevention of fuel entry and the depletion of all backup power sources for operating the network’s main elements.”
