In a recent meeting held on Saturday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, accompanied by Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Mr. El Quseir, received Cindy McCain, the Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP). The gathering underscored Egypt’s pivotal leadership in coordinating international aid to Gaza, including contributions from WFP and other UN organizations.

During the discussions that focused on regional files, particularly the developments in the Gaza Strip, Ms. McCain commended Egypt for its significant role in delivering support to the people of Gaza. This support manifests both through direct Egyptian aid and the coordination of international assistance.

In light of the meeting, President Sisi reiterated Egypt’s grave concern regarding the continued decline in humanitarian conditions in Gaza. He outlined Egypt’s continuous efforts to ensure the maximum possible amount of aid reaches the area, addressing the real needs of its inhabitants. Furthermore, Sisi stressed Egypt’s ongoing endeavors with various regional and international parties to prompt an immediate ceasefire.

Affirming the urgency of reviving the political pathway based on the internationally endorsed two-state solution, President Sisi emphasized the necessity of establishing an independent Palestinian state. This stance reflects Egypt’s commitment to peace and stability in the region as per international references.

The Egyptian President’s dialogue with the WFP Executive Director is part of Egypt’s broader diplomatic engagement to alleviate the crisis in Gaza and advocate for a peaceful resolution to the conflict. Egypt has been a consistent mediator in efforts to achieve a long-term ceasefire and resume negotiations towards a two-state solution.

The meeting highlighted Egypt’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian assistance and political solutions in the Middle East. As regional tensions continue, Egypt’s role remains crucial in navigating the path to peace and stability.
