Global Leaders Rally for Palestinian Cause

Reliable Egyptian sources anticipate significant international participation at the upcoming “Egypt International Peace Summit” regarding Palestine.

This event is set for the coming Saturday in Cairo, aimed at urgently addressing comprehensive solutions to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, under a two-state resolution. Both China and Russia have expressed their support.

Following a meeting of the “National Security Council” chaired by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Egypt extended an invitation for a regional and global summit on the Palestinian issue. Reports from “Cairo News” TV reveal confirmed attendance from leaders of various Arab, Gulf nations, and countries like Turkey, Greece, Italy, and Cyprus. The UN Secretary-General is also expected to join.

Dr. Samaa Suliman, vice-chair of the Foreign, Arab, and African Affairs Committee in the Egyptian Senate, stresses the importance of leveraging the current global focus on the Palestinian issue.

She believes that an Egyptian-led approach to renew peace efforts has extensive Arab and international backing. In remarks to “Al-Sharq Al-Awsat”, Suliman attributes the current tension to the international community’s perceived bias against Palestinians and obstacles preventing Palestine from gaining full membership in the United Nations.

She emphasized the need to urge a fair, comprehensive, and lasting solution based on a two-state resolution, affirming the Palestinians’ right to a sovereign state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Considering Cairo’s ongoing intensive political consultations, the Egyptian parliamentarian anticipates broad attendance at Saturday’s conference. This sentiment aligns with the united Arab stance on the Palestinian issue, expected to be reinforced by Arab nations during the summit.
