Sudanese and Moroccan Finance Ministers met recently, discussing mutual cooperation in various economic sectors. Meeting in the margins of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank meetings in Marrakech, they explored shared efforts in mining, agriculture, and training.

The Sudanese Minister highlighted the need for collaboration in agriculture and public finance sectors. He also emphasized potential soccer cooperation between the two countries.

The Moroccan Minister praised Sudan’s significant agricultural potential, asserting that it could independently suffice the Arab world. He urged Sudan to harness scientific agricultural techniques and prioritize seed quality.

Additionally, he encouraged establishing a team, coordinated by the Sudanese Agriculture Minister and the Sudanese Ambassador to Morocco. This team would facilitate transferring Moroccan agricultural expertise to Sudan.

Furthermore, a bilateral agreement to enhance trade relationships and eliminate customs barriers was proposed by the Moroccan Minister. He urged the Sudanese Ambassador to organize visits for the Ministers of Commerce and Agriculture and requested a list of specializations for training and expertise transfer.

Discussion also enveloped the mining sector, noting the successful experience of a Moroccan mining company in Sudan as a motivating example for other Moroccan companies.

Finally, condolences were extended by the Sudanese Minister for the recent earthquake in Morocco, expressing solidarity amidst the loss of life and property. This dialogue sets a foundation for enhanced bilateral cooperation, merging resources and expertise to foster economic growth and sustainability.
