In a noteworthy development, OPEC member states witnessed a substantial surge in oil production last month, marking a remarkable increase of 273 thousand barrels per day compared to the previous month.
According to the organization’s monthly report, the average oil production reached 27.75 million barrels per day in September 2023, propelled by heightened output from key contributors such as Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. Notably, OPEC+ countries collectively adhered to the agreement by producing less than the permissible levels, demonstrating an over-compliance of 305%.
The report outlined that OPEC’s total crude oil production experienced a significant uptick, rising by 273 thousand barrels per day from August. This boost was primarily attributed to increased output from Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, while production saw a decline in Venezuela and Equatorial Guinea.
Despite facing various challenges, OPEC’s commitment to over-complying with the “OPEC+” agreement was evident, resulting in a reduction of production by 3.88 million barrels per day below the prescribed quotas. This proactive measure underscores OPEC’s dedication to maintaining stability in global oil markets by regulating production in line with international agreements.
