Mousa Abu Marzouq, a member of the Political Bureau of the Palestinian movement “Hamas,” has confirmed that the organization is in contact with Russia regarding the issue of Israeli prisoners who hold Russian citizenship.

Abu Marzouq stated in an interview with the Qatari channel “Al Jazeera,” “There are dozens of dual citizens… We are in communication with Russia on this matter, as there are those who hold Russian citizenship.”

He added that Hamas has achieved its objectives through the military operation against Israel, emphasizing that the organization is currently open to dialogue.

The conflict continues between Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas, which initiated the “Al-Aqsa Tempest” operation on Saturday and infiltrated Israeli settlements near the Gaza Strip, capturing a significant number of Israeli soldiers and civilians.

In response, the Israeli military announced the launch of “Operation Iron Swords” and initiated intense airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of civilians in the region.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated, “We are in a state of war, not a military operation, and we will respond with a force that Israel’s enemies have not seen before.”

Russia recently affirmed that creating a Palestinian state is the “most reliable” solution for peace and that fighting terrorism alone would not ensure security.

Creating a “Palestinian state that would live side by side with Israel.. is the most reliable path to solve (the conflict),” Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said. “We cannot agree with those who say that security can only be ensured through a fight with terrorism”.

Lavrov was speaking at a news conference in Moscow alongside Arab League chief Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
