Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune made a fervent plea to completely end colonialism during his address to world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly.

He emphasized that global conflicts and crises have escalated to an unprecedented level, leading to the displacement of millions and shifting international relations from cooperation and agreement to confrontation.

Tebboune expressed the urgent need to reflect on ways to enhance the values and principles of the UN Charter and strengthen collective commitments. He further stressed the importance of establishing robust foundations for effective global collaboration on key issues.

This cooperation aims to bolster international peace and security and realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in a multi-polar world.

Speaking about Algeria’s role in the UN Security Council, Tebboune said that Algeria is fully aware of its responsibilities and the significant challenges the international community faces.

He reassured that his country would work closely with all nations, leveraging its expertise in mediation to promote political solutions and proper conflict resolutions.

Tebboune pointed out that Algeria would join the Security Council and work towards fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Africa and the Arab world.

The leader accentuated the necessity to focus on definitive solutions for crises by addressing their root causes rather than mere crisis management.

On a related note, the Algerian President warned of the potential risks of security fragility in the African Sahel region.

He stated that the unstable conditions in the Sahel and Sahara regions amplify instability, providing a breeding ground for terrorist groups.

This coverage of President Tebboune’s speech provides insights into Algeria’s stance on pivotal global issues and its commitment to fostering international peace and collaboration.
