US President Joe Biden announced on Monday an additional aid package for victims of Hurricane Daniel in eastern Libya to address their urgent humanitarian needs.

In a statement released by the White House, Biden said, “Today, as residents of eastern Libya continue their recovery and rebuilding efforts in the wake of the devastating floods, the United States will provide an additional $11 million to local and international organizations responding to their urgent humanitarian needs.”

He added that the US Department of State and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) will assist in coordinating the delivery of these aids to those most in need. They’ll join the concerted efforts of countries and non-profit organizations worldwide offering vital support, including water, food, shelter, and medical assistance.

Biden continued, “While the United States stands by the Libyan people during this challenging time, we remain committed to supporting the political path towards a unified and freely-elected government in Libya capable of effectively addressing the needs of its people.”
