At least 39 people were killed in the city of Nyala, the capital of South Darfur, as a result of the bombing of citizens’ homes in the ongoing battles in Sudan between the army and the Rapid Support Forces for more than four months.

Witnesses and a medical source confirmed to Agence France-Presse on Tuesday that “shelling of homes in the Al-Sikka Al-Hadid neighborhood of Nyala resulted in the tragic death of 39 people, the majority of whom were women and children, including an entire family.”

The delay in reporting this incident, which occurred 8 days prior, was attributed to the internet outage in the area, preventing the news from reaching media outlets until today.

The clashes continue between the army and the RSF, especially in the capital Khartoum, and its cities. Nyala, the capital of South Darfur, has also witnessed intense fighting and a significant displacement of Sudanese citizens, as reported by the United Nations.

It’s worth noting that the army’s leader, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, embarked on a trip to Egypt on Tuesday to meet with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

This marks his first foreign visit since the outbreak of the conflict last April. According to sources cited by RT, after his meeting with el-Sisi in Egypt, al-Burhan is expected to travel to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
