The U.S. Department of State announced on Friday that Secretary Antony Blinken will visit Saudi Arabia from June 6 to 8 to hold meetings focusing on economic and security relations between the two countries, as well as global issues.

The Department added in a statement that the visit will include a ministerial meeting between the United States and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries next Wednesday to discuss security and integration in the Middle East.

The statement indicated that Blinken is also scheduled to co-host a meeting on ISIS organization with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan next Thursday.

A statement by Matthew Milner, Spokesman for the U.S. Department of State, said that Blinken would address “strategic cooperation” between the two countries in regional and bilateral issues during his talks with Saudi officials.

Blinken’s visit comes a few weeks after a visit to the Kingdom by U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, and about a year after a visit by U.S. President Joe Biden in the summer of 2022.
