At least nine people were killed and 300 injured in a series of explosions across Lebanon, a day after pager blasts linked to Hezbollah killed 12 and wounded thousands.
The Lebanese Health Ministry confirmed the new casualties on Wednesday, adding that a child was among the dead and over 170 people were critically injured.
The blasts risk further escalating tensions in the Middle East, which have been heightened by the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
Hezbollah has vowed to retaliate against Israel for Tuesday’s attacks, which saw pagers belonging to Hezbollah members detonated nearly simultaneously, exposing a significant security breach and raising concerns about Israeli intelligence capabilities.
In total, nearly 3,000 people have been injured in the two days of explosions across Lebanon. The situation remains highly volatile as the region braces for potential further escalation.
