Rami Abduh, President of the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor, reported that children account for 40% of the casualties in the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip. During a phone interview with the “Cairo News” channel on Saturday, he stated that approximately ten thousand children have been killed due to Israeli genocidal crimes in Gaza.
Abduh mentioned that this number is unprecedented in the history of the conflict and in the history of previous wars, highlighting the daily martyrdom of 150 children. He also noted that over 700,000 children in Gaza have been affected by the aggression. Most of the children in Gaza were direct victims of this Israeli aggression, with 17,000 children injured and about 27,000 having lost both parents, in addition to half a million Palestinian children losing their homes due to the aggression.
He emphasized that more than 90% of Gaza’s population goes through entire days without receiving any food. He referred to a statement by the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, who noted that food reached only one out of the five governorates, specifically the Palestinian governorate of Rafah.
The situation in Gaza remains dire, with a desperate need for humanitarian aid, including food, medical supplies, and fuel. The UN and various international organizations continue to call for a ceasefire and urge for immediate protection for civilians and aid workers in the region.
The conflict has taken a heavy toll on journalists in Gaza, with numerous Palestinian journalists killed while performing their duties. This includes fatalities from shootings and airstrikes, highlighting the dangers faced by media personnel covering the conflict. The Committee to Protect Journalists and Reporters Without Borders have reported on these casualties and called for investigations into these incidents.
