Turkish security forces have conducted a successful operation in the northern regions of Iraq, neutralizing five PKK terrorists near the Turkish border, the National Defense Ministry confirmed on Saturday.
The operation, carried out in the Operation Claw-Lock zone in Metina, involved targeted airstrikes that resulted in the neutralization of the terrorists.
The PKK, a designated terrorist organization, has long used hideouts in northern Iraq to plan and execute terror attacks in Türkiye.
The Turkish government remains committed to countering the threat posed by the PKK and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.
The PKK’s terror campaign against Türkiye has spanned over 35 years and has resulted in the loss of more than 40,000 lives, including women, children, and infants.
This latest operation reflects Türkiye’s unwavering determination to combat terrorism and bring those responsible to justice.
In a tragic incident related to the operation, a Turkish soldier, Enes Kirmizikoc, lost his life after being struck by a helicopter blade on Friday.
Furthermore, Turkish intelligence has also “neutralized” Ozgur Alparslan, a PKK terrorist responsible for ordering actions that led to forest fires in Türkiye in 2021.
These developments highlight the ongoing efforts of Turkish security forces to eliminate threats posed by the PKK and maintain peace and stability in the region.
