At least five people were martyred on Sunday night, according to the official Syrian news agency (SANA), due to Israeli airstrikes that targeted military sites in central Syria as reported by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

SANA quoted the director of the National Hospital in Masyaf, Faisal Haider, saying, “The number of victims from the Israeli aggression on several sites around Masyaf has risen to 5 martyrs and 19 injured, some of whom are in critical condition.” Additionally, SANA cited a military source stating, “Around 20:23 on Sunday evening, the Israeli enemy launched an air aggression from northwest Lebanon targeting a number of military sites in the central region, and our air defense systems engaged and downed some of the enemy’s missiles.”

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that “the regime’s air defenses attempted to counter a severe Israeli attack in three waves targeting military sites of the regime forces in the western countryside of Hama.” The Observatory added, “13 loud explosions were heard in the area of the Scientific Research Center in Masyaf, west of Hama. Two Israeli missiles fell in two sites in the Zawi area of the Masyaf countryside, and the Israeli missiles targeted a site on the Masyaf-Wadi al-Oyun road, and another site in the Heir Abbas area.”
