Five individuals suspected of carrying out espionage activities on behalf of Russia are facing charges in the United Kingdom.

According to the “New York Daily News,” Orlin Roussev, Bizer Dzhambazov, Katrin Ivanova, Ivan Stoyanov, and Vanya Gaberova are set to appear before a magistrate’s court in Westminster next Tuesday.

The five Bulgarians are charged with conspiring to gather information that could be useful to Russia between August 2020 and February 2023.

It is believed that the five individuals were working for secretive Russian agencies to monitor targets in the United Kingdom and Europe.

During searches of the suspects’ residences in London and Norfolk, the police found forged passports and IDs from the UK, Bulgaria, France, Italy, Spain, Croatia, Slovakia, Greece, and the Czech Republic.

Investigators suspect that Rosov, the alleged leader of the espionage network, personally forged the documents.

The counter-terrorism unit of the London Metropolitan Police discovered the espionage network.
