In a devastating incident in South Africa’s Limpopo province, at least 45 people were killed in a bus crash near Mamatakalala, the South African Transport Ministry reported on Thursday.

The tragedy occurred when the bus, carrying passengers from Botswana to the town of Moria in Limpopo, lost control, collided with a bridge barrier, and subsequently caught fire upon falling to the ground.

The ministry’s statement highlighted the severity of the accident, noting that one individual was left with serious injuries. Rescue operations continued into the late hours of Thursday, according to Limpopo’s Department of Transport.

This harrowing event underscores the critical need for stringent safety measures and regulations in the transportation sector to prevent such catastrophic occurrences in the future.
