As the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah intensifies, 22 countries have initiated plans to evacuate their citizens from Lebanon in recent days.
Here are the details of evacuation efforts by some of the countries involved:
Australia: Authorities have provided hundreds of seats on flights for citizens wishing to leave Lebanon. An emergency plan, including the deployment of a military aircraft to Cyprus, has been put in place, with recommendations for the estimated 15,000 Australians in Lebanon to leave via Beirut Airport while it remains operational.
Belgium: The Belgian Foreign Ministry has urged citizens to leave Lebanon as soon as possible.
Brazil: Brazil sent an Airbus A330 to transport citizens wishing to leave Lebanon. The government estimates 3,000 Brazilians seek repatriation. The aircraft, with 220 passengers onboard, departed Beirut on Friday and will conduct two weekly flights.
China: The Chinese Foreign Ministry announced on Saturday that over 200 Chinese nationals have been safely evacuated.
Canada: Canada is coordinating with Australia to evacuate citizens by sea, with plans to charter a commercial ship capable of transporting 1,000 people per day.
Cyprus: Cyprus evacuated 38 of its citizens from Beirut on Thursday with assistance from Greece. The total number of Cypriots in Lebanon is estimated to be between 1,000 and 1,500.
Denmark: Denmark has advised its citizens to leave Lebanon but has not yet initiated an evacuation process, as commercial flights are still departing the country.
France: France has emergency plans in place focusing on Cyprus and Beirut Airport and is also considering evacuations via Turkey. A French naval vessel is in the region, and a helicopter carrier will arrive in the Eastern Mediterranean soon in preparation for possible evacuation operations.
Germany: Germany evacuated 219 citizens on Friday and continues to support the departure of non-essential staff and medically vulnerable individuals. The German government is assisting others in leaving as well.
Greece: Greece evacuated 22 of its citizens on Thursday alongside some Cypriots. A frigate is on standby for further assistance if needed.
Italy: Italy reduced the number of its diplomatic staff in Beirut and increased security at its embassy. Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has repeatedly urged Italians to leave Lebanon.
Japan: Japan evacuated 11 of its citizens and five foreign nationals to Jordan using a military transport plane. About 50 Japanese nationals are believed to be in Lebanon.
Netherlands: The Dutch Defense Ministry announced plans to send a military aircraft to evacuate citizens from Lebanon on two flights scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
Poland: Poland evacuated dozens of Polish citizens and nationals from other countries from Lebanon on Friday, following a decision to reduce embassy staff in Beirut.
Portugal: Portugal’s Prime Minister Luis Montenegro advised against travel to Lebanon. The Lebanese authorities have assisted in evacuating a small number of Portuguese citizens.
Romania: Romania evacuated 69 citizens from Lebanon on Thursday using a military plane. More than 1,100 Romanians and their families have registered with the Romanian embassy in Lebanon.
Russia: Russia began evacuating its citizens from Lebanon on Thursday, with a special flight carrying diplomatic families. Approximately 3,000 Russians and citizens from other Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries are seeking to leave Lebanon.
Slovakia: Slovakia plans to send a military aircraft to transport its citizens and those of other nations to Cyprus.
South Korea: South Korea evacuated 97 of its citizens and their families from Lebanon, according to the South Korean Foreign Ministry.
Spain: Spain intends to send two military planes to evacuate up to 350 Spanish citizens from Lebanon.
Turkey: Turkey’s Foreign Ministry announced that it is ready to evacuate its citizens from Lebanon by air and sea and is coordinating with about 20 countries for a potential evacuation of foreign nationals. Approximately 14,000 Turks are registered with the Turkish consulate in Lebanon.
United Kingdom: The UK government arranged charter flights to evacuate British citizens and their families from Beirut, with more than 150 evacuated on Wednesday. The UK has also deployed around 700 soldiers to Cyprus as part of its military presence in the region.
United States: The U.S. deployed troops to Cyprus to assist in evacuation preparations. The U.S. State Department is working with airlines to increase the number of flights out of Lebanon for American citizens.
