A young Moroccan man was shot dead by the Algerian coastguard, while another was severely injured during a maritime leisure trip.

The incident took place yesterday evening off the coast of Saidia. Two young men were riding a personal watercraft, commonly known as a “Jet Ski,” accompanied by two others on a third Jet Ski, in proximity to the maritime borders with Algeria.

According to available information, Royal Gendarmerie forces retrieved the body of the Moroccan youth, who held French nationality.

He had sustained five gunshot wounds from the Algerian military.

Another young woman of the same nationality managed to survive the incident.

Ongoing search efforts are underway to locate two other missing individuals who were also on board the third Jet Ski, which was headed towards the Algerian side.

Local authorities and the Royal Gendarmerie in Saidia have been mobilized to conduct search and rescue operations.

Their primary objectives are to locate the missing individuals and provide support to the injured person.

It is suspected that another Jet Ski, currently missing, might be connected to this incident, further complicating the situation.
