Israeli airstrikes on Syria late Sunday night have resulted in at least 14 deaths, according to official Syrian media reports.

The strikes targeted a major military research center in the countryside of Hama.

The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported early Monday that the death toll from the Israeli attacks near Masyaf has risen to 14, with 43 others injured, six of whom are in critical condition.

The airstrikes also reportedly hit Syrian air defenses and other military positions.

The conflict between Israel and Syria has been ongoing for decades, with frequent military engagements and tensions.

Israel has long been concerned about Iranian influence in Syria, especially with Iran’s support for Hezbollah and other militant groups in the region.

The Israeli government has conducted numerous airstrikes targeting what it claims are Iranian military facilities and weapon transfers intended for Hezbollah.

The Syrian government, led by President Bashar al-Assad, has been fighting a complex civil war since 2011, involving various international actors and internal factions.

The Israeli airstrikes are part of a broader pattern of Israeli military actions aimed at disrupting Iranian entrenchment in Syria and preventing advanced weaponry from reaching hostile groups.

The region’s volatile situation often results in escalating violence and civilian casualties, complicating efforts toward a long-term resolution. The international community remains divided on how to address the ongoing conflicts and the broader geopolitical implications of these military actions.
