The devastating toll of the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza has reached a grim milestone, with the Palestinian death toll surpassing 11,000 since the outbreak of hostilities on October 7.
Gaza’s health ministry released the alarming figures on Friday, stating that the casualties include 4,506 children, 3,027 women, and 678 elderly individuals. Additionally, 27,490 people have been reported injured.
Ashraf Al-Qedra, the spokesman for the health ministry, revealed that there are 2,700 reports of missing persons believed to be under the rubble of destroyed buildings, with 1,500 of them being children.
Highlighting the impact on the healthcare system, Al-Qedra noted that Israeli violations resulted in the deaths of 198 health personnel, the destruction of 53 ambulances, and the targeting of 135 health institutions. Currently, 21 hospitals and 47 primary care health centers are out of service.
Furthermore, there is a warning that the remaining hospitals in Gaza could soon be completely incapacitated due to the shortage of fuel. The situation continues to escalate, adding urgency to international efforts to address the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza.
