Yemen lauded the mediation endeavors spearheaded by Saudi Arabia and Oman to achieve peace in the country.
The National Coalition of Political Parties, an alliance encompassing around 14 Yemeni parties, renewed its commendation for its concerted efforts to attain genuine peace in the country.
This sentiment was conveyed in an open letter addressed to the President and members of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council by the National Coalition of Political Parties and Forces.
The coalition elaborated in the letter that, “A lasting and just peace is the primary concern and aspiration of the Yemeni people, in line with agreed-upon references.
This includes the Gulf Initiative, its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue, and United Nations Security Council decisions, foremost among them Resolution 2216.”
The coalition emphasized that such peace can only be actualized through Yemeni-led negotiations under UN auspices, where all political entities participate, including the involvement of women and the youth.
They stressed the importance of their role in shaping solutions and their inclusion in negotiation-related developments.
Furthermore, the coalition asserted the need to “withdraw heavy and medium weapons from the Houthi militia.
It also affirmed the state’s exclusive right to bear arms maintain power, and restore public and private properties looted by the militia.
In conclusion, the Yemeni parties and forces underscored the urgency of “swiftly announcing the formation of a negotiation team representing legitimacy with the participation of all supportive political forces and the return of all state institutions to the temporary capital, Aden.”
