Ajay Banga, President of the World Bank Group, has praised the remarkable progress achieved by Morocco under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, highlighting that the new Moroccan development model is poised to further consolidate these achievements.
In a message commemorating the 25th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s ascension to the throne, Banga noted that Morocco has launched a series of major projects, which have notably reduced the poverty rate, accelerated electrification across various regions, and increased life expectancy.
The President of the Washington-based international financial institution also commended the Moroccan King’s leadership and dedication to improving citizens’ living standards. He pointed out that the new development model launched by the King is expected to stimulate job creation and enhance societal inclusivity in Morocco.
Banga praised the resilience and strength of the Moroccan people in facing the COVID-19 pandemic and the Al-Haouz earthquake, noting that the lessons learned from these experiences are a source of inspiration.
Additionally, the World Bank President lauded the strong partnership between the international financial institution and Morocco, recalling that both sides celebrated the 65th anniversary of their cooperative relationship during the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, which Morocco hosted last October in Marrakesh.
The World Bank President expressed the institution’s commitment to supporting Morocco during the “next phase” of its developmental journey, in line with the forward-looking vision of the Moroccan King.
