The World Health Organization’s director-general has expressed deep concern over a report from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, stating they received warnings from the Israeli authorities to immediately evacuate the Al-Quds Hospital in Gaza. This news was reported by The Guardian, a British newspaper.

On “X” (formerly Twitter), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus conveyed his alarm regarding the reported threats to evacuate the Al-Quds Hospital in Gaza. He emphasized, “We reiterate that it is impossible to evacuate hospitals filled with patients without endangering their lives.”

Earlier, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society had stated, “Since this morning, there have been raids within 50 meters of the hospital.”

Officials from the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported a significant rise in the death toll in Gaza amidst ongoing Israeli aggression, according to Voice of Palestine radio. The Palestinian Health Ministry has recorded a total of 8,069 martyrs and over 20,000 injuries resulting from the continuous occupation assault on the people in Gaza and the West Bank.

The situation in Gaza has been tense, with escalating violence and a growing humanitarian crisis. Hospitals and medical facilities are on the front lines, providing crucial support to the injured and affected population. The Al-Quds Hospital, located in a highly sensitive area, has become a focal point of the crisis, drawing international attention and concern.

The intervention of the World Health Organization, led by Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, highlights the severity of the situation and the urgent need for a resolution to protect civilians and medical facilities. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society’s report and the subsequent comments from the WHO chief underscore the dangers faced by medical professionals and patients in conflict zones.

The ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza and the West Bank has resulted in a tragic loss of life, with thousands of martyrs and tens of thousands of injuries. The situation necessitates immediate attention from the international community to address the violence, protect civilians, and uphold international humanitarian law.

Medical facilities, such as the Al-Quds Hospital, play a critical role in providing life-saving care in times of conflict. Protecting these facilities and ensuring their ability to operate is paramount. The WHO’s involvement and the global attention drawn to the situation in Gaza are essential steps towards advocating for the safety of medical facilities and the well-being of the affected population.

The global community’s focus is now on Gaza, awaiting updates on the situation and hoping for a swift and peaceful resolution to the crisis. The role of international organizations, such as the World Health Organization, is crucial in highlighting the urgency of the situation, advocating for the protection of civilians, and calling for an end to the violence.
