Cristiano Ronaldo, the star player for Al-Nassr, said his move to the Saudi League has paved the way for other players, asserting that Karim Benzema’s arrival will increase competition in the tournament.
The Portuguese sensation moved to the Al-Nassr team last January, prior to the recent addition of the French striker to “Al-Namour” team.
Ronaldo made his remarks following the launch of a water brand in Madrid, Spain, saying, “Let me ruffle some feathers a little, I knew that going to Saudi would open the box (the field for others), and I was not wrong,” according to Eurosport.
He continued, “I am sure that the Saudi League will become one of the best leagues around the world within two or three years, we can already see that.”
“Cristiano Ronaldo added, “Benzema has already arrived, and I am 1000% sure that many players will follow.”
The Portuguese star added, “What we want is more competition, when there is competition, it benefits marketing.”
Regarding the possibility of owning a club in the future, he said, “I won’t rule it out, I’ve never closed any doors, and I’m looking forward to this possibility, let’s see how football develops, how leagues develop, let’s look at Europe, let’s look abroad, I don’t rule it out, I’ve thought about it for two years, yes, I might want to do that in the future, it’s a good idea.”
