President Joe Biden announced on Tuesday that the US is working to grant Ukraine permission to use American long-range missiles against Russian targets.

In a statement to the press before departing for New York, Biden indicated that efforts are underway to lift existing restrictions on Ukraine’s use of long-range missiles.

This move is seen as a response to recent sanctions imposed by Western countries on Iran, which are aimed at countering the alleged supply of Iranian missiles to Russia.

Ukraine has been advocating for its allies to remove constraints that prevent it from targeting what it considers “legitimate” military objectives deep within Russian territory, including airbases used to launch attacks on Ukraine.

Earlier on Tuesday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed that Russia had received ballistic missiles from Iran, which could potentially be used in Ukraine within weeks.

Blinken warned that the growing cooperation between Moscow and Tehran poses an increased threat to European security.

In response, the Iranian Foreign Ministry dismissed the reports of arms transfers to Russia as “vile propaganda.”

In a separate development, President Biden addressed the recent death of American-Turkish activist Aisha Nour Izgi Ayi during a protest in the West Bank.

Biden described the incident as “an apparent accident,” suggesting that the activist was unintentionally struck by a ricocheted bullet. This statement follows calls from Blinken for the Israeli military to implement “substantive changes” following the activist’s “unjustifiable” death.
