The White House confirmed that U.S. President Joe Biden does not intend to change the United States’ policy towards Israel following the attack on a displaced persons camp in the city of Rafah, southern Gaza Strip, but he does not turn a blind eye to the suffering of civilians.

John Kirby, the National Security Council’s strategic communications advisor at the White House, said in a statement reported by the American channel “Al-Hurra” today, Wednesday, that the U.S. administration believes that Israel’s actions in Rafah do not amount to a large-scale operation that crosses red lines.

Last week, the International Court of Justice ordered Israel to halt its military attack on Rafah in a historic emergency ruling in a case filed by South Africa accusing Israel of committing genocide.

The Israeli occupation army launched new airstrikes yesterday on tents housing displaced persons in the designated humanitarian area in the Al-Mawasi area west of Rafah, resulting in casualties and injuries.

The attack came two days after an Israeli airstrike on a displaced persons camp in northwestern Rafah caused a fire, resulting in the deaths of 45 people and the injury of 249 others, according to the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip.
